The Glenmore Trust Respite Service The Glenmore Trust offers a superb respite facility, which is situated in very close proximity to the Edington centre (Day Centre) on the outskirts of the town centre in Penrith. There are bus stops nearby, which offer quick and easy access to the numerous shops in the town. There is a large supermarket 10 minutes walk away. The respite unit is a registered care home, audited by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). This modern four bed bungalow, is all on one level, and is fully accessible to people using a wheelchair. It offers respite care for up to three adults with learning disabilities, and is registered to provide support for one individual with a physical disability. (There is an electric riser / recliner bed). The home has a mobile hoist, and other moving and handling equipment, to aid individuals. The respite service also offers an emergency bed facility, and has an emergency bed admittance procedure, should this be necessary. The service also has its own vehicle, which enables service users to access social activities in the community. All bedrooms have en-suite facilities, and are clean, spacious, and offer a very cosy “home from home,” ambience; each has its own TV, DVD and radio. There is a communal living room, which is cosy and stylishly appointed, with flat screen TV, DVD player, two leather sofas, and other chairs, which may be used, of necessary. There is an activity room, which can also act as providing a quiet “time out” area. The kitchen has recently been refurbished, and contains all mod-cons and a dining table and chairs. The layout of the kitchen has been designed to offer the best accessibility possible. Service users are encouraged to make use of the kitchen as much as they can.
